Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, is a captivating blend of stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. From its picturesque beaches to charming villages, Mallorca offers something for every traveller.
We arrived in to Palma de Mallorca Airport, which is the main gateway, with numerous flights from major cities in Europe and beyond, and collected our car rental.
Arriving on one of the first flights of the day, our villa wouldn’t be ready until 4pm, so we decided to head to Port de Alcú dia for lunch and relax. Port de Alcúdia, located on the northern coast of Mallorca, is a popular resort town known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant marina, and family-friendly atmosphere.
Our villa was located in Cala Sant Vicenç, a picturesque coastal village located on the northern shore of Mallorca. Known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and dramatic cliffs, this charming destination is perfect for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty.
Mallorca has a wide range of activities to suit every taste. And we spent most mornings out and about before heading back to the villa in the afternoons.
Pollensa, a picturesque town nestled in the northern part of Mallorca, is known for its stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant cultural scene. With its cobbled streets, quaint plazas, and nearby natural beauty, Pollensa is a perfect destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure.
Visit the weekly market held on Sundays in the main square. You’ll find a variety of local produce, crafts, and souvenirs—perfect for experiencing the local culture. Don’t forget to indulge in local dishes such as ensaimada, a traditional pastry from Mallorca that has become a beloved symbol of the island’s culinary heritage. Known for its spiral shape and light, flaky texture, this sweet treat is often enjoyed for breakfast or as a snack.
Climb the famous Calvari Steps, a series of 365 steps that lead to a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the town and the surrounding countryside. At the top, you’ll find a small chapel and stunning panoramic views.
Most evenings we headed to Port de Pollensa for dinner. Located on the northern coast of Mallorca, it’s a charming resort town known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and beautiful mountain scenery. This picturesque destination offers a perfect mix of relaxation and outdoor activities, making it a favourite for families, couples, and adventure seekers alike.
With a wide range of restaurants, you can enjoy traditional dishes, fresh seafood, delicious tapas as well as other cuisines such as Asian and Italian. A lot of the restaurants have seating overlooking the marina.
Sóller, nestled in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca, is a charming town known for its stunning natural scenery, rich history, and vibrant cultural scene. With its picturesque streets, historic architecture, and beautiful surroundings, Sóller is an enchanting town. Parking can be limited in the town center, so consider using public transport or finding designated parking areas.
Wander through the charming streets of Sóller, where you’ll find traditional stone buildings, boutique shops, and local cafes. Don’t miss the the town’s main square, surrounded by beautiful architecture.
Take the historic tram ride from Sóller to Port de Sóller, a scenic coastal village. Enjoy beautiful views of the sea and mountains along the way.

Stroll along the beautiful promenade lined with palm trees, shops, cafes, and restaurants. It’s a great place to enjoy a leisurely walk and take in the stunning sea views.
The sandy beach at Port de Sóller is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying water sports. The calm, clear waters are perfect for families.
The Caves of Drach (Coves del Drach) are one of Mallorca’s most popular attractions, renowned for their impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations, underground lakes, and mesmerizing beauty. Located near the town of Porto Cristo on the eastern coast of the island, these caves offer a unique glimpse into Mallorca’s geological history and are a must-visit for nature lovers.
The Caves of Drach are approximately a 60-minute drive from Palma. There’s ample parking available near the entrance.
Entry to the caves is only permitted via guided tours, which last about 1 hour. Tours are available in multiple languages and provide fascinating insights into the caves’ formation and history.
The caves feature remarkable stalactites and stalagmites, some of which are thousands of years old. Highlights include the large underground lake, which is one of the largest in the world.
Many tours include a short classical music concert performed on boats on the lake, creating a magical atmosphere as the music echoes through the caves.
